Privacy Policy
Version 1.0 – Effective 12/24/2025, Last Updated 12/24/2025
-
You Got Listings, Inc. (“YGL,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the YouGotListings platform and related services (collectively, the “Services”). This Privacy Policy—available at all times through https://www.yougotlistings.com/privacy—explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use our Services, including public-facing tools powered by YGL on broker and landlord websites.
By using our Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. For information about your choices and rights, please see the 'Your Privacy Rights & Choices' section below.
- 1. Scope
-
This Privacy Policy explains how You Got Listings, Inc. (“YGL,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects personal information through the products and services we own and operate (the “YGL Services”), including:
- YouGotListings.com, YGL.is and affiliated subdomains;
- the YGL web platform and related applications used to manage listings, leads, applications, credit checks, and deals; and
- public-facing tools powered by YGL, such as YGL-hosted agent/office websites and embedded rental-search widgets we host or support for clients.
Who this Policy Covers. This Policy applies to personal information we process about:
- Registered Users: landlords, management companies, brokers, and real estate agents with YGL accounts;
- Tenants: individuals whose information may be processed for applications, leases, or related transactions; and
- Prospective Tenants: individuals who search listings, submit inquiries, or complete applications through YGL-powered tools.
What is not covered. This Policy does not apply to websites, apps, or services that YGL does not control—even if the YGL Services connect to or transmit data to them—such as TransUnion/other credit bureaus, MLS providers, Zillow/Apartments.com/other listing portals, or client-operated websites. Those parties collect and use information under their own privacy policies.
Where this Policy applies. YGL operates in the United States and processes information for users nationwide. The Policy also applies to users who access the YGL Services from other locations, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Regional addenda (if any) may supplement this Policy.
- 2. Information We Collect
-
2.1 From Registered Users
- Account registration details: name, company, contact information, login credentials, billing details.
- Listings data: property address, rent, fees, concessions, photos, descriptions, showing/leasing instructions, marketing content.
- Uploaded documents such as leases, applications, disclosures, and marketing materials.
- Lead and deal information, including tenant or prospective tenant contact details and application files.
- Materials provided for on-behalf data entry (e.g., forwarded landlord emails, listing sheets) and the structured data we enter into your account based on those materials.
-
2.2 From Tenants and Prospective Tenants
- Contact and Preference Data: Name, email, phone, and rental preferences (desired location, move-in date, budget).
- Application Data: Application forms and supporting documentation submitted through YGL-powered tools, which may include details such as employment history, residential history, and income verification.
- Sensitive Credit Check Data: In the event an application is submitted, we collect identifying information to facilitate a background and credit check (e.g., name, date of birth, Social Security Number, current/previous addresses) and receive a consumer report containing credit score and credit history summary.
Our Role Clarification: For the processing of this data, YGL typically acts as a Data Processor on behalf of the Registered User (landlord/broker), who is the Data Controller.
-
2.3 Automatically Collected From All Users
- IP address, browser and device information, operating system, access times.
- Interaction logs: search queries, viewed listings, clicks, account activity.
We do not use automated decision-making or tracking technologies for advertising or behavioral profiling.
- 3. Purposes of Processing and Data Sharing
-
We use and disclose personal information for the following purposes:
- Service Operation: To provide, maintain, and improve the Services (legal basis: contract performance). Data may be shared with our hosting and IT providers such as AWS or Google Cloud.
- Rental Application Processing: To process applications, credit checks, and document signing (legal basis: contract; FCRA legal obligation). Shared with TransUnion or other credit agencies, DocuSign or similar providers, and the relevant Registered User.
- User Communication: To facilitate communications between Registered Users and Prospective Tenants (legal basis: contract).
- Listing Syndication: To distribute listings to renter-facing websites (legal basis: contract). Shared with third-party listing portals such as Zillow or Realtor.com.
- Analytics & Reporting: To create aggregated, de-identified market reports and analyze service usage (legal basis: legitimate interest). No personal data is shared.
- Legal & Security Compliance: To enforce our Terms of Service and protect our rights (legal basis: legal obligation and legitimate interest). Information may be shared with law enforcement or regulatory authorities as required by law.
We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties and limit disclosures to those necessary for the purposes described above.
- 4. Role of YGL in Tenant Interactions (Data Controller vs. Processor)
-
YGL is not a licensed real estate broker or salesperson and does not engage in brokerage activities. All property information, tenant communications, and transaction documents processed through the Services are controlled by the respective broker, landlord, or property manager. YGL does not verify, endorse, or negotiate any rental terms and does not act on behalf of tenants or landlords.
When Prospective Tenants use YGL-powered tools (e.g., broker websites, application forms), YGL acts solely as a Data Processor and a technology service provider to the broker or landlord who controls that listing. That broker or landlord is the Data Controller and is primarily responsible for compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, including those regulating broker fees, application fees, tenant screening charges, and the legal basis for processing your personal data.
- 5. Market Reports and Analytics
-
We may use listings data and other non-personal information provided by users to create aggregated and de-identified reports, statistics, market analyses, or other informational products (“Reports”). These Reports:
- Do not include personally identifiable information about individual brokers, landlords, tenants, or specific properties.
- May be made publicly available or offered for sale to third parties.
- May combine YGL data with other public or licensed datasets.
All listings data remains the property of the user or third-party source from which it originated. YGL’s rights under this section apply only to the extent permitted by the originating source’s terms and applicable law. All aggregation and de-identification processes are designed to prevent re-identification of any individual or specific property.
- 6. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
-
We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. We use cookies and similar tracking technologies (such as web beacons and pixels) to operate and secure the Services, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use our platform.
These technologies help us maintain login sessions, improve site performance, and analyze usage trends in aggregate. You may configure your browser to delete or block cookies, but doing so may prevent certain features from functioning properly. By using the Services, you consent to our use of cookies as described in this Policy.
- 7. Data Security
-
We implement a combination of technical, administrative, and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information we process against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure, or access.
These safeguards include, but are not limited to:
- Encryption: Using SSL/TLS encryption to protect data during transmission (in transit) and encryption or hashing to protect certain sensitive data (at rest).
- Access Controls: Implementing strict internal access controls and authorization procedures to ensure only necessary personnel can access Personal Information.
- Authentication: Requiring strong passwords and, where appropriate, multi-factor authentication (MFA) for account access.
- Network Security: Utilizing firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and regular vulnerability scanning of our systems.
- Data Minimization: Adhering to policies for data retention and disposal to securely destroy data when it is no longer needed.
Security Disclaimer: While we strive to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of data transmitted over the internet or stored on our systems.
By using our Services, you acknowledge and accept this risk. While we use reasonable safeguards, no system is completely secure, and transmission over the internet involves inherent risks.
- 8. Data Retention
-
We retain your Personal Information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including for legitimate business and legal reasons. The specific period depends on the type of data and the context of our relationship with you.
Criteria used to determine retention periods include:
- Contractual Necessity: Registered User data (account details, billing history) is retained for the duration of your active account and a reasonable period thereafter to facilitate account recovery or respond to service-related inquiries.
- Legal and Regulatory Obligations: We retain certain data (e.g., financial transaction records, data used for FCRA credit check reporting) for periods required by law (e.g., tax, accounting, or consumer protection statutes).
- Risk Management and Litigation: We may retain data for a period necessary to defend or assert our legal rights, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
- Content Disposal: Prospective Tenant application data is typically retained on behalf of the Data Controller (the landlord/broker) for a period specified in our agreement with them or until it is no longer necessary for the tenancy process.
In general, most account and transactional records are retained for several years in accordance with standard business and tax practices, while tenant application data is typically retained only for the duration of the application or tenancy process unless otherwise required by law or contract. Once the data is no longer necessary, we securely delete or permanently de-identify it.
- 9. Your Privacy Rights & Choices
- Depending on your location and role (Registered User, Tenant, or Prospective Tenant), you may have certain rights regarding your Personal Information. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information in Section 14 (Contact Us).
-
A. All Users
- Access and Update: Registered Users may update most account information, payment details, and preferences directly within their profile settings.

-
C. Role of YGL in Exercising Rights
- YGL as Controller (Registered Users): If your request concerns data where YGL is the Controller (e.g., your login/billing details), we will process your request directly.
- YGL as Processor (Tenant/Prospective Tenant Data): If your request concerns data collected via an application (e.g., credit reports, application forms), the Landlord/Broker is the Data Controller. We will forward your request to the relevant Controller for them to fulfill, as required by law.

- 11. Children’s Privacy
