Shared Features & Photos Now Advertised By Default

07 August 2010

Some of you asked for the ability to use the landlord’s features and photos for the listings directly in your advertisements and your websites.  We thought it was a great idea, and it saves you time and efforts.  However we needed to solve one thing, which is that you need to be able to control what’s displayed to the renters.  So, if a landlord shares something you don’t want to display to the renters, you can hide it.

Starting today, all features and photos provided by the landlords will, by default, be included in your advertisements and websites (office and personal).  However, if for any reason you do not want to advertise them, you can update the landlord’s privacy settings to change what’s displayed to the renters.

If you open the Landlord Details page, you’ll notice a new Privacy drop down button with 2 options, Hide Shared Features From Renters, Hide Shared Photos from Renters.  By toggling these settings on / off, you can control if the selected landlord’s features and photos are displayed in your advertisements and websites.

    Hi Greg,

Thanks for the feedback and really appreciate it. I certainly agree with what you said here. But how is this different from MLS listings? People pull MLS listings to display on their websites, and they are using the content directly entered by the other agents, which can also have questionable content.

I want to give it a bit more time to see people’s reactions, and change it as necessary.

Please define shared features and where the landlords get or give the info. Is this for real time landlords only. I do not want deleaded or anything pertaining to that subject in my ads along with”great for students” “working people only” etc. I also don’t want to change every landlord to private one by one. Your policy should be to turn it on, not to have to turn it off. You are now truly writing ads for people if it appears on the websites unbeknownst to the users suddenly. Are you editing the features an owner puts out there one by one. I understand the goal but these are my concerns.
